Every time you go to a web page or download a file posted on the Internet, your browser or download manager sends a corresponding request to the server where the page or file is stored. This request, in particular, contains the IP address of your connection to the network. Many free file storage services use this to limit the number of connections from a single Internet connection. You can bypass the restriction by replacing your IP address with the proxy server address.
Instructions
Step 1
If you use a browser to download, then the proxy server address must be specified in its Internet connection settings. In the Opera browser, to do this, you can press the key combination ctrl + f12, go to the "Advanced" tab, select the "Network" line in the list on the left and click on the "Proxy servers" button. In the window that opens, check the box "Configure proxy server manually", and then enter the IP address and port of the proxy server in the separate fields. Then click the "OK" buttons in both open windows.
Step 2
In Internet Explorer, open the Tools section of the menu, select Internet Options and go to the Connections tab. Click the "Configure" button after selecting the desired Internet connection and check the box in the "Proxy Server" section. After that, enter the address and port in the appropriate fields and sequentially click the "OK" buttons in both open windows.
Step 3
In the Google Chrome browser, to specify the proxy server data, open the menu, select the "Settings" item, in the page that opens, click the "Advanced" link and in the "Network" section, click on the "Change proxy server settings" button. This browser does not have its own settings for connecting to the Internet, so the corresponding window of Internet Explorer installed in your system will open, the sequence of actions for which is described in the previous step.
Step 4
If you are using Mozilla Firefox, expand the "Tools" section of the menu and select "Options". In the window that opens, go to the "Advanced" section, click the "Network" tab, and then the "Configure" button in the "Connection" section. In the window that opens, check the box next to the inscription "Manual configuration of the proxy service" and enter the address and port of your proxy server. After that, click the "OK" buttons in the open windows of the browser settings.
Step 5
In the Apple Safari browser, expand the Edit section of the menu and choose Preferences. In the window that opens, go to the "Add-ons" tab and click the "Change settings" button next to the "Proxy" label. Like Google Chrome, this browser does not have its own connection settings, so the Internet Explorer browser dialog described in the second step will start.
Step 6
If you use any download manager to download files, then use the options for working with the proxy servers of this program. For example, in the FlashGet application, to do this, click the "Settings" icon in the menu, then click the "Add" button related to the proxy server, and enter the IP address and port number in the window that opens. Close the settings window with the "OK" button and right-click the required download in the list of the general download queue. In the context menu, select the "Properties" item, in the window that opens, go to the "Advanced" tab and select the address of the required proxy server from the list. Then click the "OK" button and start downloading the file.
