Often, when teaching web design, you have to look at the source code of other people's web pages. No additional software is required for this. Any browser is enough, for example, Opera.
Instructions
Step 1
Launch Opera browser.
Step 2
Go to the site whose HTML code you want to view. If necessary, open this or that page on it.
Step 3
If you are using the modern version of the Opera browser, click on the red button with a white letter O located in the upper left corner. A menu will appear. In older versions of the browser, as well as if the classic view is selected in the modern version, the menu is already at the top of the screen.
Step 4
Regardless of how you invoked the menu, select the item called "View" in it.
Step 5
In the submenu that appears, select the "Source Code" item.
Step 6
The HTML code of the page will open in a separate tab. Note that different sections of it are highlighted in color for easier reading. Optionally, switch between the page and the source code as many times as necessary to understand which of its fragments are responsible for which displayed elements.
Step 7
Remember, that:
- it is impossible to send the modified source code to the server;
- only the HTML-code of the page is displayed, and it is also impossible to see the content of the site's "engine" scripts (in particular, in PHP);
- the current legislation does not allow the use of code fragments of other people's pages, which are original and created as a result of creative activity (for example, Java scripts), on other sites without the permission of the authors of these fragments.
Step 8
If you wish, find menu items similar in purpose in all other browsers available on your computer. Compare the source code of the same page when opened by other browsers. It may be slightly different. This is due to the fact that some servers, having received information about the browser used, slightly change the code of the automatically generated page. Previously, this was often deliberately done in order to worsen the compatibility of the site with various browsers, but today it is mainly done, on the contrary, to improve it.
