The average user seeks to minimize the receipt of spam. But when setting up and testing systems for filtering unwanted messages, it becomes necessary to increase its number, on the contrary.

Instructions

Step 1

The first way to artificially increase the amount of spam entering a specially created "experimental" mailbox is as follows. Create a few more accounts on any servers, and then start sending messages that look like spam to the tested mailbox. They can have the same or slightly different text, and can use typical words and phrases found in spam (for example, "Congratulations, you won the lottery", "Sushi delivery", "Sale"). Try deliberately placing grammatical errors in the headers and body of the message, attaching archives with passwords, links to URL shortening services, and check the reaction of the filtering system to these actions.

Step 2

The second method consists in artificially attracting spambots to the "experimental" address. Place the address of the test box in plain text in the guest books of several dozen English-language sites. A stream of unwanted messages will hit him in a few days. It remains only to observe how well the filtration system copes with them.

Step 3

The third way is to send messages to the test box containing the standard GTUBE text. Similar to the standard EICAR file for checking antiviruses, this text is intended for checking the response of anti-spam systems. It looks like this: XJS * C4JDBQADN1. NSBN3 * 2IDNEN * GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL * C.34X If the system is working correctly, it should assign a spam rating of 1000 to messages containing this fragment.

Step 4

When testing a spam filter, be sure to check for false positives. Create a new mailbox, messages from which the system has not yet checked. Send from him a message like "Hello, I wish you a happy birthday." Do not put links in it, do not attach files to it, do not make grammatical mistakes in it. The system should skip it.

Step 5

After completing the test and setting up the spam filter, be sure to delete the "experimental" mailbox.
