During the passage of the first chapter of the game "The Witcher 2", in addition to the main tasks, there will be a number of side tasks that do not affect the development of the main plot, but allow you to earn money or explore the game world in more detail. One of these tasks is connected with the elf Malena, with whom the player will face in the village of Bindyuga.

Meeting with Malena

If you go to the eastern edge of the village of Bindyuga, you can encounter a detachment of city guards arguing with an elf named Malena. They claim that the girl helped the skoyataels and lured two guards into their trap. Milena, of course, denies everything. According to witnesses, the last time the guards were seen at the caves of Flotzam. This is where you will need to go if you decide to understand the situation.

Having taken the task, go to the eastern edge of the village, where a detachment of city guards with Malena will already be waiting for you.

Descent to the caves near Flotzam

Entering the cave, the Witcher will find traces of blood. Follow them into the depths of the cave. On the way, you will see the corpse of a soldier killed by the nakers. A group of such monsters will attack you. They should be fought with a silver sword. Having repulsed the attack, continue to follow the bloody trail until you stumble upon the corpses of two guards. Here it is necessary to defeat the corpse-eating monster.

The corpse eater explodes at the moment of death, inflicting fatal damage, so you should move away from him when he begins to tremble.

After examining the corpses of the guards, studded with arrows, it becomes clear that they were killed by the skoyataels. This is evidence of the guilt of the elf Malena. Return to the surface and talk to the guard who approached. You will have two choices: say that the Scoyataels killed the guards, or blame the monsters for everything. Depending on the decision made, the line with Malena will follow one of the two branches of development.

The Witcher blames Malena for the death of the guards

In response to the accusations of the Witcher, Malena will declare that he has nothing to do with what happened. The player may not believe her words and execute the criminal on the spot or demand an explanation from her. In the second case, Malena will offer to visit the forest with her to make sure of her honesty.

Heading for Malena, you will soon find yourself ambushed by Scoyataels. Protect yourself and the guards. Your reward for the task will depend on the number of guards who survived the battle.

In battle, you will need a steel sword and the Yrden Sign. Watch the lives of the guards, protecting them from the attacks of the skoyataels.

The witcher blames the monster guards for the death

After the Witcher clears the charges against the elves, Malena will invite him to meet at the waterfall to thank him. The waterfall is located south of Bindyuga. Along the way, you will encounter various obstacles: traps, nakers and endriags. Use the medallion to find them and burn through the clusters of enemies with the Yrden Sign.

Near the waterfall, the elf will start a conversation with you, at the end of which it will become clear that Malena has lured you into a trap. A squad of skoyataels will appear soon. They can both attack you and demand an apology from the girl. The second option is possible only on condition that during the execution of the tasks of the main branch, the Witcher sided with Iorvet. Use the burnt Yrden Sign in battle. After killing the enemies, you will find that the elf has escaped. Now you need to find her.

Malena is hiding in a destroyed hospital. In this regard, it is best to look for her after completing the quest "In the claws of madness", according to which you just need to visit these ruins. After searching everything around, you will find an elf. You can either kill her, take her to Loredo, or let her go. The decision made does not affect the development of the main plot.
