When there are several computers in the house, there is a quite natural desire to combine them into a local network. A local network allows you to access the Internet from any computer, as well as use a shared MFP or use a shared media server.
Instructions
Step 1
Access to the Internet and shared resources is provided by a network card built into the computer or several network cards, as well as a modem connected to the computer.
Step 2
Most often, a local network is created using a device such as a switch. Use a twisted-pair cable to connect computers to the switch. This cable is a bundle of 8 pairs of twisted wires with RJ-45 connectors.
Step 3
Then connect the device switch to the main computer. Moreover, the computer should already be equipped with two network cards. One network card is designed to connect your computer to the Internet via a modem. Another network card is used for a local network connection through a switch.
Step 4
After that, configure the software, and a local network with Internet access is created.
Step 5
If it is not possible to purchase a switch, you can use two other methods of installing a local network.
Step 6
Connect computers using a wireless Wi-Fi radio network. To do this, connect the main computer to the modem and check if the computers are equipped with Wi-Fi adapters. Then configure the software through the "Network Connections" folder and its subsection "Wireless Network Connection".
Step 7
Buy additional NICs instead of a switch device to create a network bridge. If you are connecting three computers in one network, install three network cards in the main computer - one for connecting to a modem, two others for connecting neighboring computers. Connect the network cards using a network bridge. To do this, open the "Network and Sharing Center" on the main computer and through the "Connect to a modem" select the "Create bridge" function.
Step 8
Just remember that with this connection, all computers will depend on the main computer, which is not the case when using a switch.
