One of the most popular archivers WinRar allows you to split large archives into fragments (volumes), which are automatically reassembled to their original size during subsequent unpacking. Typically, this option is used when transporting files on removable media of limited capacity or for transferring them over network connections.

Instructions
Step 1
To create a multivolume archive, select the file, folder or group of files that you want to pack. Then right-click everything selected. A context menu will appear, in which, among other items, there will be a line "Add files to archive …" - click it.
Step 2
This will launch the archiver settings window. By default, this window opens on the "General" tab - that's what you need. At its bottom edge there is an inscription “Divide into volumes (size in bytes)”, and below it there is a drop-down list with several options for the size of the archive parts - select the one that suits you. If none of them suit you, enter your size. For example, to split an archive into parts no larger than 100 megabytes, enter "100 m" (without quotes) here. The letter "m" in lower case is understood by the archiver as "megabyte", and in upper case ("M") - as "million bytes". Similarly, the letter "k" is intended for kilobytes, and "K" for thousand bytes.
Step 3
After setting the splitting options, do not forget to specify a name for the archive in the "Archive name" line. All files of a multivolume archive will have this name, but before the rar extension there will be an insert like "part0001", "part0002", etc. Click “OK” to start the archiving process.
Step 4
If you need to split an already packed archive into parts, then proceed as follows: first open the archive by double-clicking the right button. Then open the section "Operations" in the menu and select the item "Convert archive" - you can do the same by simply pressing the key combination alt="Image" + Q.
Step 5
By this action, you will open a window in which you need to click the "Compress" button to get into the same settings window that we dealt with in the previous method of splitting the archive. And you need to act here as well - specify the required sizes of volumes in the drop-down list at the bottom of the window and click "OK"
