The virus, which is designed for users of the VKontakte social network, blocks access to this resource. Usually, when you try to log in with your username, a message appears stating that you need to send an SMS to a certain number in order to unblock your account. Do not trust the scammers, you just need to remove the virus from the system and restore access to the social network.
Instructions
Step 1
Remember that a virus gets on your computer most often when you download various free programs. The VKontakte administration never asks to send a paid SMS to gain access to the page, so it is not difficult to detect the infection.
Step 2
Click on the "Computer" icon and in the search field on the C drive, enter vkontakte.exe, after pressing Enter. Delete everything that will be found under that name and search for vk.exe already. However, the VKontakte virus often has some other name for camouflage. An antivirus can help detect malware. If you do not want to install a voluminous and resource-intensive program on your computer, you can use free utilities and perform a single scan, for example, "Dr. Web CureIt!" or Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool that do not require installation. They are located on the developer sites.
Step 3
Open the hosts file. If your operating system is Windows XP, go to the following address by typing it in the top line in the My Computer folder:% SYSTEMROOT% / system32 / drivers / etc / hosts. Vista and Windows 7 users should go to the folder:% SYSTEMROOT% / system32 / drivers / etc \. Click on the hosts file and open it with the Notepad text editor.
Step 4
Pay attention to the contents of the file. Find and delete all lines that contain addresses vk.ru, vkontakte.ru, etc. You can also try deleting all the lines, leaving only the one that contains the name localhost. Save your changes and restart your browser. Access to your account on the VKontakte social network must be restored.
