Some increase in Internet traffic can be achieved by changing the settings of the computer and modem, but you should not hope that the speed declared by the Internet provider will be exceeded.
Instructions
Step 1
By default, the Windows operating system reserves about twenty percent of the bandwidth for system needs. This can be one of the reasons for the decrease in Internet connection traffic. In order to disable this function, call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Run" dialog.
Step 2
Enter the value of gpedit.msc in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the "Group Policy Editor" tool by clicking the OK button. Expand the Computer Configuration link and go to the Administrative Templates section. Expand Network and select QoS Package Manager. Use the "Properties" link and go to the "Parameter" tab of the dialog box that opens. Apply the checkbox to the "Enabled" field and enter the desired value in the corresponding line. Apply the changes you made by clicking OK.
Step 3
Pay attention to the number of so-called half-open connections. This feature was introduced by Microsoft to reduce the rate at which malware spreads from an infected PC and to reduce the likelihood of the computer participating in DoS attacks. By default, the local computer cannot support more than ten outbound connections, and connections that exceed this threshold are made in order of priority. Use the specialized application Half-open Limit, freely distributed on the Internet, to remove this traffic limitation. Please note that this limitation does not apply to incoming connections, but only applies to outgoing connections.
Step 4
Use the option to disable the function of checking for available updates for both various installed applications and the Windows operating system itself. Background search for updates can significantly reduce network traffic. Most software settings allow you to disable this feature.
