Spam is harmful not only by annoying users, but also by the fact that among the many unwanted messages, you can sometimes overlook one necessary one. The main measures to prevent spam from entering mailboxes are taken by the server owners, but much depends on the users themselves.
Instructions
Step 1
Responsibly consider the choice of a server to host your mailbox. Large, well-known public mail services, such as Gmail, Mail. Ru, Yandex. Mail, are best protected from spam. Although accounts on corporate servers are more prestigious (the address is obtained on the same second-level domain as the site of an enterprise or organization), such servers are less protected, and an overflow of the "Inbox" folder sometimes threatens to delete the entire mailbox. It is not worth at all to contact mail servers belonging to providers, since they often lack protection against unwanted messages at all, and the volume of the mailbox is limited to a few megabytes.
Step 2
Do not post your email address in the clear on web pages, forums and guest books. Use means to protect the address from being collected by bots, for example, replace the @ sign with the word "dog". It is even safer to place the address on the page in the form of a picture with "dancing" letters, as on a captcha: a person can read such an inscription, but a machine can only with great difficulty. You can also communicate your e-mail address to your interlocutors not in public, but in private messages.
Step 3
Don't reply to unsolicited messages. Thus, you will confirm that your address exists, and the amount of spam from the same source in your mailbox will only increase. Bots are also often involved in sending such messages, so your request to stop advertising this or that product is unlikely to be read by anyone.
Step 4
Do not forget to look through the "Spam" folder in your mailbox. Sometimes useful messages will fall into it by mistake. Please note that sometimes the contents of this folder are automatically deleted several days after receipt.
Step 5
Train your anti-spam system. If an unwanted message accidentally ends up in your Inbox or vice versa, use the links that may be labeled “This is spam” or “This is not spam”, respectively. In the future, letters coming from the same sources, or having similar content, the system will identify correctly.
