To identify a computer on the network, a special code is used - an IP address. It consists of four three-digit numbers, each of which cannot be less than zero and greater than 255. The numbers of the IP address are separated by dots. Some of the ranges of these addresses are allocated for internal local networks, the rest are intended for the global network - the Internet. If it becomes necessary to find out the internal IP address of your computer (that is, the IP address for the local network), then this can be done using the standard components of the operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Find in the notification area of the taskbar (in the "tray") an icon representing a network connection - it appears there when your computer is connected to any local or global network. In the context menu, invoked by right-clicking on this icon, there is an item "State" - select it. In the window that opens with information about this network connection, go to the "Support" tab and in the "Connection Status" section you will see the "IP address" line, which contains the required internal IP of the computer.
Step 2
Another way to launch the connection status window is to use the Control Panel - a link to it is placed in the main menu on the Start button. With the panel open, select the "Network and Internet Connections" section, and then click the "Network Connections" link. This will take you to the Explorer window, in the right pane of which all connections created in your system will be listed - select the one you need and right-click on it to see the same context menu as described in the previous step. Then everything should be done in the same way as described above.
Step 3
When using Windows 7, you can start "Explorer" by pressing the Win + E keyboard shortcut and on the "Network" tab select the "Properties" section from the menu, and in it the "Change adapter settings" item. As a result, a list of network connections will open, where you should click the desired connection, and in the window of its properties that opens, click the "Details" button. You will find the internal IP in the "IPv4 address" line.
Step 4
Use the ipconfig utility as an alternative way to get information about the internal IP address. To do this, you need to open a command line terminal - do this by pressing the key combination win + r, entering the cmd command and clicking the "OK" button. In the terminal window that opens, type ipconfig / all, press Enter and wait until the utility collects information and displays it in the terminal window in a long list. Closer to its beginning will be placed a line "IP-address" indicating the internal IP of your computer.
