The Sims is the most popular computer game. The idea for its creation belongs to game designer Will Wright, developed by Maxis, and published by Electronic Arts. The first part was released in February 2000. The Sims is the best-selling game in history to date.
The Sims Online and EA Land
In the early 2000s, The Sims Online was created based on the original The Sims for personal computers. The Sims Online was popular for 2-3 years, but then the users became much smaller. The Sims Online was renamed EA Land, and on August 1, 2008, Electronic Arts dropped server support for the game.
The essence of the game The Sims Online is to keep the character created by the user alive and develop his skills (cooking, fitness, logic, creativity, technology). The more "pumped" the character (sim), the more careers, as well as interactions available to him. The player could send his Sim to a permanent settlement in one of 12 online cities. Alphaville and Blazing Falls were particularly popular. Experienced players decided to settle characters in Dragon's Cove. In this city, vivacity was rapidly falling, the game set hard-to-reach goals, and the cost of all items was 2 times higher than in other cities.
The revived version of The Sims Online project is called EA Land. The developers have made some changes to the game. All cities were united into a metropolis, it became possible to buy out land plots (for this, the user needed to have a premium account). Now players could buy, sell and exchange content (hairstyles, clothes, interior items) among themselves. The project failed due to harsh criticism from most users in connection with the restriction on free accounts and the introduction of a monthly subscription fee of $ 9.95.
The Sims 2, The Sims 3, The Sims 4
The Sims 2, with all of its 17 expansion packs, didn't have online features, but the developers decided to fix this in the next series of games. The Sims 3 introduced a system of memories of significant events in the character's life (birth of a child, wedding, dismissal from work, promotion), which could be shared on social networks Twitter and Facebook, integrated into the game. The Sims 3: Show Business (March 2012) has a new online feature called SimPort. With its help, you can send your character on tour to the town of online friends. However, fans never received a full online version of the game.
The next generation of the game is scheduled for the fall of 2014. It is already known that The Sims 4 will not require a constant internet connection, but if there is one, the player will have access to some additional features. However, what these functions are is still unknown.

PlayFish and The Sims Studio have developed and Electronic Arts has released a new online game, The Sims. This time, it is only available on the social network Facebook as an application. But it did not last long. In June 2013 it was decided to close the project. The user started the game by creating a sim character, choosing for him a name, skin color, main character trait and clothing. Next, the sim needed to be moved into the house, to get a job. There were other ways to make money (simoleons): take care of plants, repair equipment, and complete game tasks. When interacting with friends, one could earn Social Points, and when investing real money in the game, the account of another game currency, SimCash, was replenished. In The Sims Social, it was still required to keep track of the needs of the character (hunger, hygiene, entertainment, communication, bladder, sleep). When performing certain actions, 5 skills were developed. The more a sim can and knows, the more bonuses and items are available for him.
Thus, at the moment, playing the Sims online will not work due to the lack of appropriate platforms. There are several games on the Internet that are similar to The Sims and have a similar game model (creating a humanoid character, developing his skills, dressing up and interacting with objects and players), but such projects have nothing to do with the original The Sims game.
