Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way to catch an anonymous sender is if you use the services of the MTS operator. Scroll the text of the message to the end, and you will find a number consisting of four numbers separated by dots. This is the so-called IP address.

Step 2

From your phone (if you have unlimited access and a correctly configured APN) or computer, go to the following site:

2ip.ru/

You will see information about your own IP address. But with the help of this resource, you can get data (not secret) about other addresses. Please note that this site may not open with the UC phone browser.

Step 3

Click on the "IP Address or Domain Information" button. A field for entering the checked IP address will appear on the loaded page. Replace your IP address in this field with the one that you received along with the message, without making a mistake in any number, and then click on the "Check" button.

Step 4

If the site https://2ip.ru for some reason does not open for you, and the computer is running Linux, get the same information by entering the command:

whois aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd, where aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd is the IP address of the message sender.

Step 5

You will receive information at least about which provider the sender is using. If you know which providers your friends are subscribers to, this can significantly narrow the search circle for the author of the post. If one of them sent you an SMS from a work computer, you will surely receive information about which institution's corporate network it was sent from. Remember which of your acquaintances works in it.

Step 6

Subscribers of other mobile operators do not receive any information about the IP address of the sender of the SMS. The support service, however, does not have the right to provide this information to ordinary users. In any case, if the message contains a threat, contact law enforcement. With the help of the System of Operational Investigative Measures (SORM), they will be able to accurately determine the identity of the author of the threat.
