A port is a logical address, an area of system memory through which information is exchanged. Firewalls, firewalls and routers restrict access to ports, making them closed for receiving or transmitting data. Because of this, some programs or games cannot establish a connection and, as a result, do not work. To fix this situation, you need to reassign the port in the router.

Instructions

Step 1

Launch your browser and go to https://www.simpleportforwarding.com/download. In the downloads section you will find a link to download Simple Port Forwarding, a simple and convenient port forwarding tool. Click on one of the links labeled Download. After that, the download of the application will begin. Double click on the downloaded file to start installing the program. Answer the wizard's questions by clicking on the Next button.

Step 2

Start Simple Port Forwarding by double clicking on the shortcut on your desktop. The main application window and an additional settings window will open. In the lower left corner of the main program window, select Russian from the list of languages.

Step 3

Select your router model from the program list. Click on the button in the top line and select the appropriate model. You will find its name on the underside of your modem or router. You can click the "Search" button and enter the name and model manually. This will tell the application what hardware you are using. A sign of a correct definition will be that entries will appear in the "IP-address", "Username" and "Password" fields. If you changed your username or password, enter the correct information in the appropriate fields.

Step 4

Click the little plus button at the bottom of the window. A window will open in which activate the "Add custom" button. The port forwarding menu will appear. Enter the name of the rule, for example, the name of the application for which the rule is being created. Select the type of protocol, if applicable. In the "Start Port" and "End Port" fields, enter the port numbers to be reassigned. Then click the Add button and close the dialog box.

Step 5

Apply the created reassignment rule. Click on the "Run" button. Enter the username and password from the router in the request window. By default, this word is admin in both fields. The program itself will make changes in the settings, you only need to save the changes and reboot. To do this, click the Reboot or Save / Apply button in the configuration utility window. Wait until the connection is restored. These steps are enough to reassign the port.
