It is perhaps no secret that some programs during installation can automatically change the start page in the browser or the standard search engine to their own. In some cases, the software notifies the user of such actions and you can disable such an installation, but in others, everything happens differently. In addition, changes can occur not only during the installation of any software, but also during the download.

Replacing the start (home) page of the browser

The start page can be easily changed in the Opera browser settings themselves. To do this, go to the "Settings" tab and select the "General settings" item. Next, the user will be asked to choose what to do when the browser starts, namely which page to open. For example, if the value is set to "Start from home page", then you must specify its URL in the corresponding field, for example, google.com. This completes the procedure for changing the home page in the browser. This option is ideal if you have not installed any other search engine, for example, Webalta.

Removing unwanted start page

In the event that some annoying search engine appears all the time, which the user did not install on his own, and at the same time does not remove it in any way, then you need to do otherwise. To remove it and normal operation of the browser, you must run the "Registry Editor". You need to open the "Start" menu and click on the "Run" item. A small window will appear in which you should enter the regedit command. After confirming the action, a registry window will open. Here you need to open the "Edit" tab and select "Search", where, for example, webalta or the name of some other system fits.

When the search results appear, you should pay attention to the "Value" parameter, and if the desired name is indicated there, in this case webalta, then the line should be deleted. Using the F3 button, you need to repeat this procedure until absolutely all values are removed from the registry. The same can be done with all similar systems that do not change in the usual browser settings.

After that, you can restart the Opera browser and change the start page in the settings again. After all these manipulations, the browser home page should change to the one specified by the user.
