The computer user settings are stored in a separate special folder on the C drive. In this regard, when reinstalling the operating system, you will have to reconfigure the settings to suit your requirements. If you don't want to do this, you can move your profile to another drive.
Instructions
Step 1
Activate the "Administrator" user. To do this, launch the main menu "Start", find the line "Computer" and right-click on it. In the menu that appears, select the "Management" item. A system window will open, in which click on the item "Local users" - "Users". Select the "Administrator" line and open its properties. Uncheck the box next to "Disable account". If you want to transfer the "Administrator" profile, then you need to create a new user and grant him administrative rights.
Step 2
Create the directory where you want to transfer the user profile. For example, D: / User. This must be done from under the user for whom this operation is performed.
Step 3
Click on the "Start" button and select the "Log out" command. Log into the system as an Administrator or under a new profile with administrator rights. Find on the C drive the folder with the desired profile and copy from not all folders and files from the created directory. This must be done under administrator rights, since some of the files are system files and are not just copied.
Step 4
Go to the "Run" menu "Start" and enter the command regedit. Press the enter button to open the registry editor. Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows NT / CurrentVersion / ProfileList / branch, which contains the list of system users. Scroll through all the sub-branches and find the one that contains the path to your old profile folder in the ProfileImagePath parameter. Open this option and change the path to a new one.
Step 5
Log out and log in under the user profile that is being migrated. Open Registry Editor and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Shell Folders. Modify all the section settings to specify a new path in the profile folder. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.
