The Internet appeared relatively recently, but already the majority of the world's population cannot imagine a single day of life without it. E-mail and social networks, various forums and blogs - all this and much more makes people change their priorities and abandon the things that seemed important before in order to spend time online.
The monitoring agency News Effector conducted a survey in August 2012, the results of which were a little shocking. So 25% of Russian women and a little less men (20%) are ready to give up sexual relations for the sake of spending time on the Internet. More than 50% of the surveyed respondents stated that they have an Internet addiction.
33% of people living in Russia willingly told that they experience severe irritability and stress if they cannot access the Internet for any reason. Moreover, this problem, judging by the results of the survey, is growing. According to 61% of people, every year they become more and more dependent on the Internet and spend more and more time on the Internet. 15% of respondents are strongly concerned about the problem of their own Internet addiction.
As it turned out, the Internet tramples on even such unshakable values as love and family. Thus, 9% of women and 12% of men admitted that online relationships replace communication with their own family. 32% of women and 34% of men prefer virtual friends to real ones. 17% of women and 12% of men agree to give up the phone for the sake of the Internet.
About 30% of respondents are mainly engaged in aimless searches for information on the Internet. In the top ten most popular sites among Russians, the leading positions are occupied by social networks: Odnoklassniki, Vkontakte, Moy Mir, Twitter and Facebook. They are followed by dating sites and resources with erotic content. Online games and news sites round out the top ten.
Despite the obvious problem of many people leaving real relationships into virtual ones, only 5% of respondents consider the Internet to be something bad, the rest of the respondents say that it is one of the most valuable inventions of mankind.
