E-mail users are often faced with a situation where a deleted mailbox needs to be returned. You can recover a mailbox that was deleted by mistake, due to a system failure or as a result of fraud, either independently or by contacting the e-mail administration. Actions in such a situation depend on the time elapsed since the deletion, and on the mail service system.

It is necessary

  • - the Internet;
  • - login, password and other information about the mailbox.

Instructions

Step 1

When registering a mailbox in any of the e-mail systems, the corresponding account is automatically registered, which is not saved when the mail is deleted. Enter your username and password to enter your account. You will be prompted to restore your mailbox, for this you need to click the "Unblock" or "Restore" button. The mailbox will be restored, but all information stored on it, including old letters, will not be available. This option is suitable for those whose mailboxes were blocked by the administration due to non-use for a certain time (3 months on the mail.ru service or 6 months of another service).

Step 2

If the mailbox was deleted by you or other persons who had a password for it, make a request to the administration or user support service. Most likely, you will be prompted to enter the name and password of the old mailbox in order to restore it. You can return the box in this way only if less than a month has passed since the deletion. As a rule, technical support provides assistance in case of unauthorized hacking of the mailbox, but if the mailbox was deliberately deleted by the owner, then full recovery is not guaranteed.

Step 3

If the account was deleted when deleting a mailbox, the mailbox cannot be restored. In this case, you can create a new account with a mailbox under the same name. If three months have passed since the deletion of the mailbox (during this period, the account name is considered taken), register a new account with the same login. If you find that this name has already been taken, although more than three months have passed, then you can only create a mailbox with a new username. If the login of the old mailbox is very dear to you, contact its owner and ask for his account.

Step 4

If you need to recover an Outlook mailbox (deleted using the Get-RemovedMailbox cmdlet), you can do so using the same Windows PowerShell command. You can restore a mailbox in this way only if it was deleted less than 30 days ago.

Step 5

None of the e-mail services can give one hundred percent guarantees for the recovery of a deleted mailbox, especially if a sufficiently long time has passed. Be attentive and take care of the security of your mail. Think before you delete your box. If you rarely use mail, make sure that it is not unused during the time specified in the user agreement.
