The use of banners on the site often comes down to the usual income from advertising. For almost every platform, the process of placing it is outwardly similar, but for sites on DLE there are some nuances that will be discussed below.

- - banner file in gif-format;
- - FileZilla software.
Instructions
Step 1
If you have never placed banners on your sites, I would like to note right away that it should be made in a format optimized for these purposes, namely gif. Any image on DLE is located in the Image folder on the server.
Step 2
It is recommended to use ftp-access programs to work with files on your site. The most common one at the moment is the free program FileZilla. After its installation and launch, you must click the top menu "File" and select the item "Site Manager".
Step 3
Press the button "New site", enter its name and ftp-access data to it, which you received when registering with the hoster. It remains to click the "Connect" button to display the files and directories of your site.
Step 4
The file with the banner must be renamed to _banner_ and copied to the folder with the images; if the program finds the same file, press the "Yes" button to the request to replace the file.
Step 5
Go to the admin panel, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the "Promotional materials" link. Opposite the new banner, click the "Edit" link. Place the header in the title, and leave the top banner in the description. In the "Category" section, you must specify the place where you want to see it.

The banner code should look something like this:

In the lower part of the window, enable the banner by clicking the corresponding button. Now the banner code must be added to the admin panel and the main.tpl file. Go to your site template, find the general page layout section, search for the following lines:

After the div block, you need to insert the banner code. Thus, the resulting code will look like this:

Save all changes and repeat this operation in the main.tpl file. Save this file, when the program prompts you to make the changes, click the "Yes" button.
