Choosing a webcam may seem simple at first. In fact, this is not the case. When buying, you should pay attention to price, shooting speed, image quality and lens.
Image quality
This is usually the first thing people look for when buying a webcam. A good model should have a resolution of about two megapixels. This is sufficient for most purposes.
Also, check the video quality before purchasing. A regular webcam has a resolution of 320 by 240 pixels. This resolution is standard, especially if you are working on a netbook with a small screen. If you have a laptop or desktop computer, then you need a better quality image. A resolution of 640 by 480 pixels is much better in this case.
Shooting speed
The number of frames per second is closely related to the quality of the image that the camera can process and send to your computer. Obviously, the more frames per second the camera is able to capture, the better the video quality will be. Most webcams can shoot 10 to 30 frames per second. When shooting with a webcam, the frame rate changes all the time, especially if you start to move yourself or move it. On average, this number is about 15 frames per second. Some of the more expensive webcams can shoot up to 120 frames per second. You probably won't need that kind of shooting speed. 30fps is more than enough for most users.
Lens and sensor
Inexpensive webcams use plastic lenses that are rigidly attached to the body. In other words, you won't be able to change focus. More expensive webcams have glass lenses. By turning the ring around the lens of such a camera, you can change the focal length and improve the image quality. Fixed lens models will do for most people. But if you can afford it, buy a glass lens webcam. This lens better transfers the image to the sensor of the device.
The sensor is the main component of the camera. It is an electronic component that converts light into a digital image. There are two types of sensors: CMOS and CCD. CMOS sensors are used in the manufacture of inexpensive webcams and are much better at shooting on the move. CCD sensors are commonly used in digital cameras and expensive webcam models. They have excellent final image resolution and good color reproduction. Price
Depending on your budget, you can buy a very good webcam for between $ 50 and $ 80 with the required specs. If this is too much, then choose a model that costs between $ 20 and $ 30. You won't get the same resolution and video quality as the advanced models, but you will save some money.
