A personal website, as opposed to a corporate one, is more rational to place on free hosting. The disadvantage of this solution is the provision of a domain level of the third, not the second level, as well as the presence of third-party advertising that does not bring any income to the site owner.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a free hosting provider like Google Sites, People, Boom. Note that virtually all of these services do not provide users with any kind of content management system (CMS). There are few exceptions to this rule, in particular, Ucoz. If you would like to create a Wiki site, use the services of the hosting provider Wikia or Wikidot. If you want to post only photos or videos, an alternative to a regular site can be a channel on a particular photo hosting (for example, Flickr, Picasaweb) or video hosting (in particular, Youtube, RuTube, Bambuser).
Step 2
Register with the service of your choice. This step can be skipped if you already have an e-mail box on a server owned by the hosting owner. For example, if you have such a mailbox on the Yandex server, it means that you can start creating a website right now using the services of the Narod free hosting. If you are not yet registered on the server, register in the generally accepted way: go to the hosting provider's website, select "Registration" or similar, enter the desired third-level domain name and check it for availability. If there is a choice between several second-level names, indicate which one to use. Enter your email address, password (it must be complex), password confirmation, other data, and captcha decryption. After registration, wait for the receipt of a message with a link to your specified postal address. Follow it.
Step 3
Go to the home page of the hosting provider's website again, click on the "Login" link, and then enter your username and password. Go to the section called "Workshop" or similar. Create a new HTML file and name it index.html. To work on this file, you will need basic HTML page creation skills. The editor will open automatically right in the browser. Place in this file brief information about the site, as well as links to other pages included in it. Then create these pages as well, giving them the appropriate names.
Step 4
If you want to place an image on the site, click the "Browse" button, then select the folder, and then the file itself. Click the "Ok" button, and then - "Attach" or "Download". If the image is automatically renamed, then when using the tag
enter its new name.
Step 5
While editing a page, open it in an adjacent browser tab. Every time you make changes and save the HTML file, go to this tab and press F5. Check if the changes you made are displayed correctly. When all pages of the site are edited, follow the link "Exit". In the future, when you need to make new changes, log in again with your username and password.
