The pace of modern life is very high and often, when stumbling upon an interesting resource, one has to regret the lack of time for its more detailed study. I want to save the entire website to disk so that I can later check a copy of it on the way to work using a netbook or tablet. However, this can be done using modern web crawlers such as Teleport Pro.
Necessary
- - Teleport Pro program;
- - Internet connection.
Instructions
Step 1
Start creating a new project in Teleport Pro. To do this, in the main menu of the application, select File and New Project Wizard. The first page of the New Project Wizard will open.
Step 2
Following the instructions of the wizard, set the basic configuration parameters of the created project. On the first page of the wizard, select the Duplicate a website, including directory structure option if you want to save the site and reproduce the virtual structure of its directories on the server based on the URL structure of uploaded documents. Select the Create a browsable copy of a website on my hard drive option if the directory structure is not important.
On the second page, configure the crawl options for the target website. In the Starting Address text box, enter the address of the document that will be the starting crawl point when you save the site. In the Up to field, set the depth of site browsing, i.e. the maximum number of clicks on links that the program can make from the start document.
Select the types of content to be saved from the site to your local drive on the third page of the wizard. Activate the Just text option if you want to save only html (no images and other multimedia content). Select Text ant graphics if you want to keep graphics in addition to text. To save text, images and sound files, select Text, graphics, ant sound. Selecting the Everything option will allow you to get a complete copy of the site (any content will be saved). If authorization is required to access the site, enter your credentials in the Account and Password fields.
On the fourth page, click the Finish button. The wizard will close. The project information will appear in the main application window.
Step 3
Save the project file. After closing the New Project Wizard, the Save File dialog box will automatically appear. Change it to the directory where the project file will be saved. Enter a name for the file. Click the Save button.
Step 4
Start saving the website. Sequentially select the items Project and Start from the main menu.
Step 5
Wait until the site is saved. Statistical information regarding the data loading process will be displayed in the application status bar.
Step 6
Find your saved copy of the website. Use a file manager or Windows Explorer. Change to the directory where the project file is located. Change to a subdirectory with the same name as the project file.
Step 7
Make sure that the website has been saved correctly. Go to the subdirectory named after the domain name of the saved site. Open the index file in a browser. Navigate several pages between the pages of your local copy of the resource.
