Among the widespread ADSL modems that are quick to set up, there are exceptions such as the Huawei SmartAX MT882 (MT880). In some applications, the settings of this modem may not correspond to the recommended ones, therefore, additional ports must be opened for devices of this series.

Instructions
Step 1
The MT882 and MT880 are similar in appearance and are often confused, although there are slight differences in the way you add ports on both devices. To connect to the modem and configure it, you must use any browser. Launch it and create a new tab or window - click the "File" menu and select "New Tab" or click on the "+" image in the tab bar.
Step 2
Now in the address bar enter the following value 192.168.1.1. If there is a router or router in the network, this address may be different, for example, 192.168.2.1. In the window that opens, enter your username and password (admin by default). Then press the "OK" button or press Enter.
Step 3
On the left side of the loaded window, you will see a menu, click on the Advanced section, then on the Virtual Server item. On the right side of the window, you will see many empty fields that need to be filled in. The Status element must match the Enable option. In the Name field, you should specify any value (in Latin letters), usually the name of the open port (icq, torrent, etc.) is put.
Step 4
In the Private IP field, you must specify the ip-address of your network card (192.168.1.2 by default. Set the Both option in the Protocol Type field. The Public Port option is used for the Private Port field. To complete the configuration of this part of the menu, click the Apply button.
Step 5
On the left side of the window, go to the Tools section and select System Settings. Click the Save & Restart button to save the changes and then reboot.
Step 6
For the Huawei SmartAX MT880 modem, the menu is entered in the same way. But the configuration of the additional port is performed after clicking the Port Mapping Set button in the NAT section.
Step 7
The port you need must be set in the Start Port No and End Port No. fields. All other fields are the same. Click the Save button. Then go to the Restart section and select the Restart Router with radio button, leaving it in the Current Setting position.
