Allowing users to log on to the Windows XP operating system without password protection is often used by users, although this leads to a decrease in the security of the computer. Experts do not recommend such an action, unless we are talking about the only user of the system.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main menu of the Windows XP system by clicking the "Start" button to initiate the procedure for allowing the user to log in without a password and go to the "Run" dialog. Enter the value controluaserpasswords2 in the "Open" line and confirm the command by clicking OK.
Step 2
Uncheck the "Require username and password" box in the "User Accounts" dialog box that opens and confirm the changes by clicking the "Apply" button. Authorize the execution of the selected command by entering the administrator password in the "Password" line in the next dialog box and repeat the same action in the "Confirmation" field.
Step 3
Confirm the application of the saved changes twice by clicking OK to complete the operation and close all open windows, or return to the "Run" dialog to perform an alternative procedure for canceling the password login. Enter the value regedit in the "Open" field to launch the "Registry Editor" utility and confirm the execution of the command by pressing the functional key Enter.
Step 4
Expand the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionWinlogon branch and open the Properties dialog box for the DefaultUserName key by double clicking the mouse. Enter your administrator password and authorize the action by clicking OK. Open the Properties dialog box of the DefaultPassword key by double-clicking and enter the value of the administrator password in the "Value" line. Confirm your credentials by clicking OK and double-click the AutoAdminLogon key. Type the value 1 in the "Value" line and confirm your choice by pressing the OK button.
Step 5
Exit the editor utility and reboot the system to apply the new changes. This action will lead to automatic user login. Note that the format for the DefaulUsename key of a computer that belongs to a domain should look like domain_name_username.
