While your computer is running, running applications can work in the so-called mode. "listening" to network ports. This is a process in which the port allocated by the program is always open, ready to establish a network connection and receive and transmit data. Open network ports can potentially pose a security threat to your system. Knowing the list of open ports will help you properly configure your firewall and minimize the risk of outside intrusion. To determine open ports, you can use the netstat console utility, which is included with any Windows operating system.
