QIP is one of the most widely used instant messengers. With its help, people not only communicate online, but also conduct business correspondence, make appointments, exchange files. Therefore, it should meet all the needs of the user and its sounds should please the ear, and not be a source of irritation. Changing them is not difficult at all.

Step 1
You can completely change the sound design of the program by downloading a new sound theme, for example, from here: https://www.o-icq.ru/qipsoud. You can also download just interesting sounds, such as animal voices, phrases from your favorite movies. The latter can pleasantly diversify the work routine. Funny sounds can be downloaded here:
Step 2
Unpack the archive with the new theme to the C: Program FilesQIP 2012Sounds folder. If you have a different version of QIP, the folder will be named accordingly. If you cannot find the folder where the program is installed, right-click on the shortcut on the Desktop and look in the properties for the path to the folder. If the desired shortcut is not on the desktop, go to the "Start" menu, select "Programs", find QIP and look at its properties in the same way. If this does not help, use the search on "My Computer", entering the query QIP into it.
Step 3
Launch QIP. Select the "Settings" item in the menu, find the "Sounds" item. In the drop-down menu, select the sounds you installed, click apply. You may need to restart the program for the new sound theme to work.
Step 4
To mute the sound of an event, you need to uncheck it. You can customize the sound so that the program reports only on certain events. For example, only about incoming and outgoing messages. To turn off all sounds - uncheck all the boxes.
Step 5
To change the melody of only one event, without changing the entire sound theme, you need to select it and press "Change", then select the desired melody on your computer. Remember that sounds must be in "wav" format.
Step 6
To temporarily disable sounds of the program, you can use the button "Disable / enable sounds", which is located in the program window above the contact list. When pressed, there will be a red cross on it. Press the button again to enable sounds.
