ICQ authorization is necessary in order to distinguish necessary useful contacts from accidentally added ones. It allows you to see the personal status of the virtual interlocutor ("online" / "offline"), find out what he is doing at the moment and whether he is ready to respond to your messages.

Step 1
Users authorized in the program are allowed to see the status of their virtual contacts. In addition to the main ones (“online” and “offline”), the accounts that have passed the authorization procedure have access to intermediate statuses from the standard list set by the program. For example, the Away status indicates that the user has been away from the computer for some time. Unauthorized users cannot see these metamorphoses, because for them you are always offline.
Step 2
An unauthorized interlocutor may ask you for authorization. In this case, a message window with a request will open, and you either allow this contact to be added, or, conversely, ignore the received message and thus delicately refuse the offer. You can also authorize other users from your contact list yourself. To do this, select the item "allow to add you" from the context menu of the program.
Step 3
In order to request authorization from another ICQ user yourself, you must select the "authorization request" item from the context menu of the dialogue. In this case, you must first fill out a standard form, which says the reason for the request (by default, there is an inscription “let me add you to my contact list”). The user from whom you requested authorization, after reading your message, will make a decision: either to give his consent, or not to give. If the person to whom you sent the message leaves this offer unanswered, then you will not see his real status, since for you this interlocutor will always be “offline”.
Step 4
Authorization is a one-time procedure that is required when a new interlocutor is added to the contact list. You should not allow authorization to all users, as it is not a real person who can add you, but a spam bot. In order to find out from whom the initiative to start a dialogue comes, you must first view information about an unfamiliar user and only after checking the data about him to make an appropriate decision. In order to get the necessary information about the interlocutor you are interested in, in the context menu, select the line "contact information".
