Step 1
Install the driver on the network card before configuring the LAN. The driver must be on the disk that came with the motherboard. If for some reason you do not have a disk, then download the driver from the official website of the manufacturer of your network card. After completing the driver installation, restart your computer and proceed directly to the setup itself.
Step 2
The configuration can be done using the settings wizard or independently. Open the Start menu and go to Control Panel. Find and open the Network Neighborhood tab. In Network Neighborhood, select "Set up home or small network". In the window that opens, click the "Next" button. Without changing the settings, click "Next" again. Check the box next to "Ignore disconnected network equipment" and click "Next" again. Select the type of connection. In case of setting up a local network between computers, select the "Other" item. Enter a computer name and description.
Step 3
In the window that opens, leave the settings unchanged and go to the next item. Allow or deny file and printer sharing. Click "Next", leave the settings unchanged. In the window that opens, check the box "Just complete the wizard, there is no need to run it on other computers." After completing the setup wizard, click the Finish button. Restart your computer. Repeat all the steps on the second computer. After rebooting, connect the computers with a network cable.
