Step 1
First, you need to decide on the structure of the future network. If you plan to use a netbook without being tied to a specific place in the apartment, then it makes sense to organize a wireless Wi-Fi network. There will be no need to lay another network wire, but additional investments will be required to purchase a wireless router.

If the costs did not scare you, and you purchased a router, then the next step is to configure it. To do this, connect your router to your computer with a network cable. On the router, use one of the ports marked with the LAN mark to connect. Connect the ISP cable to the WAN port.

In the address bar of your browser, enter the network address of the router you are configuring. The address, username and password required to enter are indicated on the router label.

In the window that opens, enter your username and password. The router settings window will open. Modern models have very different interfaces, but they are simple and straightforward to configure. After that, launch the "Configuration Wizard" and carefully follow all the suggested actions. Be sure to write down the Wep encryption key you create during the setup process and your network name.
Step 5
Turn on Wi-Fi on your netbook and click on the wireless icon in the tray. A window will open listing all available networks. Select yours with a double click. The system will prompt you to enter the key. Enter the key you created when setting up your router and click "Connect".
Step 6
In the left window, click on the link "Change the order of network preferences". At the bottom of the window, highlight your network name and click the Properties button. Check the box next to “Connect even if the network is not broadcasting”. Now the netbook will connect to the Internet through your local network every time you turn it on.
