Instructions
Step 1
Download and install on your computer the specialized application WUTool, which is an additional utility of the Windows Update system tool. Since Windows Update does not imply storing installed updates on a local disk, the need to reinstall the system each time turns into the need to reinstall all Service packs. The WUTool application creates a special folder on your computer's hard drive where all installed system updates are saved, and allows you to visually control the installation process itself. Additionally, there is an option to scan the system, identify and display all existing updates.
Step 2
Use the specialized program WinLocalUpdate, freely distributed on the Internet, designed to create an archive of all installed updates. The application is able to detect missing updates and install only them. The advantages of the program also include three ways to install saved updates from the archive:
- background;
- auto;
- manually
and no need for installation.
Step 3
In a situation where a program requires the mandatory installation of Service Pack 3, and the download cannot be carried out, use the ability to modify the registry entries to solve this problem. Call the main system menu by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Run" dialog.
Step 4
Enter the value regedit in the "Open" line and confirm the launch of the registry editor utility by clicking the OK button. Expand the branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / System / CurrentControlSet / Control / Windows
and change the value of the CSDVersion parameter from 200 to 300.
Step 5
Exit the Registry Editor tool and reboot the system to apply the changes.
