From time to time, users of the social network "VKontakte" are faced with the fact that when they enter their account, a message appears about blocking the page with a request to send an SMS message to a short number. This is a manifestation of a virus that can be removed in one of several ways.
Instructions
Step 1
The virus that restricts access to the VKontakte social network most often gets to the computer when downloading free applications that supposedly simplify the work with the site. The administration of the resource never uses short numbers to unlock the page, so in no case try to send an SMS message to the specified phone. So you will only lose money, and access to your account will still be closed.
Step 2
Click on the "My Computer" icon and go to the C drive. Enter "vkontakte.exe" without quotes in the search box, then press Enter. If you find files with this name, you need to delete them. Also try searching for vk.exe, VKontakte and the like. Delete any results you find.
Step 3
Use antivirus software to remove the virus automatically, as it often disguises itself under a different name. If you are unable to install a voluminous and resource-intensive antivirus on your computer, you can use free utilities, for example, using the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. They can be found on the internet.
Step 4
Edit the hosts file. If you have Windows XP installed, go to the My Computer folder and type in the address bar:% SYSTEMROOT% / system32 / drivers / etc / hosts. Windows 7 and Vista users need to use the% SYSTEMROOT% / system32 / drivers / etc / directory. Open the hosts file using Notepad text editor.
Step 5
Examine the contents of the file. Remove the lines that include the addresses vkontakte.ru, vk.com, etc. Also try deleting all lines, leaving only one named localhost. After saving the changes made, restart your computer and try again to log into your account on the VKontakte social network.
