Overuse of social media during working hours leads to decreased productivity and increased traffic. In this case, the annoyed employer sets the task of the system administrator to cut off access to the resources, because of which the production process suffers.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the hosts file located in the system folder C: / Windows / drivers / etc in Notepad or any other text editor. This file is responsible for translating domain names into network addresses and vice versa. Moreover, it can be used to block any network resource. By default, in addition to comments marked with #, this text file contains a line like 127.0.0.1 localhost. If you want a blank page to open instead of the "Vkontakte" page, instead of localhost, enter the domain names of the "Vkontakte" site, for example:
127.0.0.1
127.0.0.1 www.durov.ru
127.0.0.1 vkontakte.ru
In addition, there are mirrors of this site on the Internet that allow you to bypass the bans. You will have to regularly update the list of banned addresses.
Step 2
You can set a redirect from the Vkontakte website to some useful resources related to the profile of your production. Add the ip-address of the required resource and the domain name of the social network, for example:
127.0.0.1 localhost
82.198.190.49
82.198.190.49 www.durov.ru
Now, when trying to go to his page, an employee will be taken to the website of the Heavy Engineering Department.
Step 3
To prevent cunning employees from changing the contents of the hosts file, prohibit editing it using standard tools. To do this, in the etc folder go to the "Tools" menu, select "Folder Options" and open the "View" tab. Uncheck the box next to "Use Basic Sharing …".
Step 4
Right click on the hosts file icon, check "Properties" and go to "Security". The System and Administrators groups have full file access by default. For the Power Users and Users groups, set the edit and write prohibitions by checking the boxes next to these items.
