Computer developers will go to almost anything to make money. Nowadays, most sites are populated with advertisements, which constantly pops up when viewing the necessary information. And then there are ads that harm your computer.

So, you go to an unverified site, which is most likely on a free internet resource. Before you look at the information you are interested in, you have to spend time viewing or closing pop-up ads for Internet ads.

Fortunately, browser settings provide protection against such intrusion. To prevent pop-up windows from being shown in the Opera browser, open the browser's "Menu" (the button is by default located in the upper left corner of an open window). Find "Settings" in the list of tabs, hover over this column. The settings options will open before you. Choose "Quick Settings": this is the shortest way to customize pop-ups. Select the pop-up settings: "Block unsolicited windows". Left-click on this line and the changes will be saved automatically. Now working on the Internet will become much easier and safer.

You can prevent pop-ups from showing in Mozilla Firefox in the following way. Go to the "Settings" menu, which is located on the top toolbar of the browser. Select the "Content" tab and check the box next to "Block pop-ups". Confirm your actions by clicking "OK".

If you somehow downloaded a malicious program to your computer, and now pop-up ads with ads appear even when the Internet is turned off, you can remove them in the following way. Open the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel". Find the "Folder Options" tab and double-click on it with the left mouse button. In the menu that opens, click on the "View" tab and in the "Files and folders" section, check the box next to the "Show hidden files and folders" command. Confirm your actions by clicking "Apply" and "OK". Now hidden folders, including those containing a virus, will be visible to every computer user.

To remove the malware, open "My Computer" and on drive C go to the "Documents and Settings" folder. Select your administrator name and then open the Application Data / App Data folder. Find the "CMedia" folder in it, open it by double-clicking the left mouse button. Find the "CMedia.dat" file inside this folder. Right-click on it and select the "Open with Notepad" command from the context menu. In the file that opens, find the line "ADSR = 976" (here, instead of 976, there may be the number of pop-up impressions that is configured on your counter). Replace this digit with 0 so that you get "ADSR = 0". Return to the "CMedia" folder and run the "uninstal.exe" file by double-clicking on it with the left mouse button. Wait for the system to finish working.
