Instant messaging programs, including ICQ, are now used by almost all Internet users. We write to each other, send files, find out when a person appeared on the network. Also, the program makes it possible to express your feelings, emotions and moods using statuses and emoticons.

Instructions
Step 1
Run ICQ 6.5, ICQ 7.0. To do this, double-click on the shortcut with the image of a chamomile on your desktop. Double click on any contact from your contact list, and click on the button with the smiley image to insert the smiley into the message. Select the one you want and click on it once. The smiley will appear in the message window. Next, add the desired text and send a message. Also, instead of a smiley, you can type the corresponding set of characters, which will be replaced when sent to a smiley. In order to find out how to insert an emoticon in ICQ using the symbol, go to the tab with emoticons and move the mouse over the desired emoticon. A pop-up window will appear with a combination of characters for this emoticon.
Step 2
Download additional emoticons to add a smiley in ICQ. Start ICQ, then go to the tab with smilies in any message window. Click on the line "Manage smilies", then the item "Add smilies". Select an emoticon on your computer. Specify a code for it, that is, a set of characters that will be replaced by this emoticon. Click “OK”. Next, the emoticon will appear in the emoticon selection window. Check if the "Show additional smilies" checkbox is checked. These smilies will be shown in the message window of your interlocutor only if he also installs them.
Step 3
Download additional emoticons to insert a smiley into the message of the ICQ5 version of the program. Next, go to the C: Program FilesQIPSkinsICQ5Smilies folder (the default folder, if you installed ICQ to another location, then find the Smiles folder using the search from the main menu), there are two folders in this folder: "Animated" and "Static". Delete the "Animated" folder and paste in its place a similar folder from the one you downloaded. That is, replace it with a new one. Now close all folders, go to the ICQ client, and track the update of the smiles arsenal.
