Social networks are rapidly moving to mobile platforms, but this is not a reason to forget that there are still quite a few people who access their beloved Vkontakte through a stationary computer. They come in for so long that they have to take unpopular measures, for example, to block the "time killers". In the Google Chrome browser, this can be done using the TinyFilter extension.
Necessary
- - Google Chrome browser
- - Tinyfilter extension
Instructions
Step 1
Open the Google Chrome browser and click the wrench button located in the upper right corner of the program. In the menu that appears, click Tools> Extensions. A new window will open with a list of add-ons installed in the browser. If the list is empty, click on "… view gallery", if not - on "More extensions". The Chrome Web Store opens.
Step 2
In the search bar at the top right, type "tinyfilter" and press Enter on your keyboard. The Tinyfilter extension will appear in the search results, left-click on it. In the new window, click "Add to Chrome". The system will warn you that the extension being installed can access tabs, browsing history, and your personal data on all websites. You won't be able to refuse this, so if you still want to install the extension, click “Install”. Upon completion of the installation, in the upper right corner of the program, next to the key button, another one will appear, in the form of a blue marble ball.
Step 3
Click on this button and in the menu that appears, click Options. To block a specific social network, find the Content Filter section, activate the Block Site item, write in the input field, for example, "VKontakte", and click Add.
Step 4
Pay attention to the Advanced Settings button, which is in the same section - Content Filter. If you check the box next to Show reason for blockage, then when trying to enter a prohibited site, the user will see a warning message. You can write this inscription yourself in the Warning message field. In the Redirect blocked pages to field, you can enter the domain to which the user will be automatically redirected after trying to enter the blocked site.
Step 5
Remember to set a password before exiting the extension. Find the General settings section (the topmost one), check the box next to Enable Password Protection, click on Set password, in the window that appears, enter the password, and in the next window, confirm it. Click Save to save your changes.
