Poems differ from prose works by the presence of frequent line breaks. When uploading verses to the site, you should leave a single spacing between lines and a double - between stanzas, for example, quatrains.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that the poem that you are going to upload to the site was created by you personally, or that you have the right to bring it to the public (under a contract, a free license, or due to its transfer to the public domain).
Step 2
When placing verses on the site, it is convenient to use an HTML tag
… Place it in front of the piece of text and place the closing tag after it
… The poem will be displayed in a monospaced font (if available in the OS of the site visitor), while multiple spaces and line breaks will be displayed without any modification, for example:
I wrote poetry yesterday
I want to show them to the world.
Instead of a goose feather
I decided to take the keyboard.
I am glad of success for a reason.
I sit, I look - I will not tear
Eye from the screen. The beauty!
Now I’ll call all my friends.
Step 3
If you are satisfied with the need to edit the text of the poem itself in order to place tags on each line, arrange it like this:
And so friends came to me.
And they say: “What a shame!
Aren't you ashamed, poet
Looking at the monitor with a smile?"
Then I pressed F5 -
Take a look at the comments, And I read with surprise
Short comment: "CERE!"
Here the tag
is placed before the line immediately following the double spacing, and the tag
- before the line immediately after the single line. The font in the poem laid out in this way, unlike the previous case, does not change in any way. Closing both tags is desirable, but not required.
Step 4
If your site uses a Content Management System (CMS) MediaWiki or similar, use the tag to post the poems. Closing it is required. It acts in the same way as the tag
in HTML, but does not affect the appearance of the font. For example:
Then I sat for two hours, Sadly lowering my eyes, And he looked at his poems, And a tear ran down my cheek.
The reader booed the poetry, The poems were not accepted by friends.
And I was sad and thought:
