Correctly selected hashtags are a kind of "worm fishing rod" that allows you to catch a goldfish. How to choose and use the right hashtags to promote your Instagram account?
Hashtags are divided into 3 types
- High-frequency - from 100 thousand mentions,
- Medium frequency - 10 thousand - 100 thousand,
- Low-frequency - less than 10 thousand.
There are very rare hashtags, they are found in 500 publications or less. The latter include brand queries and rubricator hashtags.
The lower the frequency, the lower the competition. However, too frequent use of the word with hash in different Instagram profiles is not an indicator of its good searchability, it is just the number of posts under which it is mentioned.
For each account, you should select your own semantic core from hashtags, it should include the same number of words of different frequencies. Using only popular hashtags will not bring the desired benefits. It is important to use all three types in frequency in every publication! Then the publication in all three types will be well ranked and searched.
Features of hashtags

- There is no comma between them, only a space.
Types of hashtags
- A branded hashtag is your company's unique Instagram signature. Branded hashtags help you find specific branded content. Branded hashtags are used by other users when they post photos with a branded product.
- Hashtags-rubrics. Used for advertising campaigns, contests and public categories. They are used for the convenience of users, so that they can find all the thematic posts under one topic. The theme_brand scheme is used for rubrication in the account.
- Advertising hashtags should be unique and not get lost in the feed. They are used to disseminate information. In their writing, there may not be a mention of the brand, but only the name of the action or an abbreviation.
- Trending hashtags. They are associated with a specific event or event and will be popular for a short period: a few days, a couple of months. They attract users who follow this trend.
- Content hashtags. These are the tags that describe the content of the post.
- Geographic hashtags - # Moscow, # Moscow time, as well as general geo-referenced hashtags - # Englishvmsk, # learning Moscow.
- Spam hashtags - for collecting likes, followers and comments. They do not bring any real benefit. At the very least, you just get non-targeted followers and likes, at the maximum, Instagram will block the account.
Instagram does not rank frequently repeated hashtags. If you copy and paste the same words with lattices in all posts, the audience will be exhausted in 2-3 days, Instagram will stop showing the account in the search, and will subsequently send it to the ban. It is necessary to constantly change and select new tags for each topic of the publication.
