Step 1

Take a piece of twisted pair of the desired length and cut the protective covering at both ends approximately 2 cm so as not to damage the insulation of the cable wires. If the patchcord will be used to connect the computer to a modem or switch, then crimp both ends in the same way; if to connect two computers, then crossover (crossover).

Step 2

Direct connection Distribute the wiring at both ends so that they are in the same plane in this order: - white-orange; - orange; - white-green; - blue; - white-blue; - green; - white-brown; - brown.

Step 3

Align the wires, bring them close to each other and use a crimping pliers knife to cut them to about a centimeter. Turn the RJ-45 plug with the retainer down and put it on the cable so that the conductor cuts fit tightly, all the way to the stop, into the contact grooves intended for them. The cable sheath must fit inside the plug to prevent the conductors from being kinked.

Step 4

Place the fork in the groove on the crimping pliers firmly, until it stops, and squeeze the tool handles. Repeat the entire procedure at the other end of the length of cable.

Step 5

Crossover Cut off the cable sheathing on both sides. At one end, distribute the conductors as described above. On the other, the scheme will change slightly: - white-green; - green; - white-orange; - blue; - white-blue: - orange; - white-brown; - brown.

Step 6

This is because in the Ethernet and Fast Ethernet NIC port, pins 1 and 2 are used for signal transmission, and 3 and 6 are used for reception. A crossover is required so that the "hearing" pins of one adapter are connected to the "transmit" pins of the other, and vice versa.
