The set of files (images, static pages) that are necessary for the full functioning of the website can be edited using the hosting web interface. You can download them from a local machine via the same interface, or using the FTP protocol.
Instructions
Step 1
Only files stored on the hosting in text format can be edited using the web interface. For example, these can be scripts (but only if the hosting supports their use), HTML pages, etc. Go to the hosting home page, enter your username and password in the login fields, and then select the file you are interested in from the list that appears. Click on the button or follow the link for editing it (its name depends on the hosting). Next, an interactive text editor will appear in front of you. Make changes to the text stored in the file. After that, click on the button labeled "Save" or similar (also depends on the hosting).
Step 2
In order to download a file from a local machine via the web interface, find on the page that appears after entering your login and password, the inscription “Upload file” or similar. A form for selecting local folders will appear. Find the one that stores the file to download, and then the file itself. Click on the button called "Open". If the hosting does not support automatic uploading, then click "Upload". Many services support downloading multiple files at once. To do this, you first need to archive them, and then upload the archive to the site using the form that is specially designed for this. The method for uploading archives using a form is similar to the method for using a simple form to upload files. If later it turns out that some files are already on the server, click on the words "Overwrite" or similar.
Step 3
In order to upload files via FTP, you will need an FTP client. It is convenient to use file managers that have the corresponding function, for example, Midnight Commander or Far. Find out the FTP server address from your hosting support team. Select the go to server mode from the menu. Enter the username and password that you use to log into the web interface. A list of files on the server should appear. Edit, move, delete, etc. To exit the mode of working with the FTP server, switch the panel to the mode of displaying the contents of one of the local drives.
