All existing domain registration options can be divided into two groups. You can independently register a domain directly with the registrar or its resellers, or delegate this procedure to your hosting company. Both options have advantages and disadvantages.
Instructions
Step 1
When registering your site online with a hosting company, among other data, you will be asked the question - do you have a domain for the site or should it be registered. Select the answer offering to register the domain of your hosting company, and enter the domain name you have chosen. Your hosting provider will take matters into their own hands and, depending on the domain zone you have chosen and the terms of the hosting provider's own contract, will send you questions either in writing or in the form of online forms to fill out. The advantage of this method of domain registration is the simplification of the procedure, the disadvantage is the lack of your control over the registered data. You need to carefully read the rules that your hosting adheres to. For example, some hosters register a domain for your site in their own name and formally transfer it to you for use. With this registration scheme, when you want to change the hosting provider or, for example, sell your domain, problems of varying severity may arise with the change of the domain owner.
Step 2
The second method is devoid of these drawbacks - you yourself have to go through the registration procedure on the website of your chosen registrar. It should be selected based on stability and good reputation, as well as on the price level - they can vary quite significantly. Please note that sometimes registration and renewal prices are lower not with the official registrar, but with its resellers. This is due to the fact that the reseller receives a reward from its parent company for each registration, and in order to attract customers, it is ready to share part of this reward with you in the form of a discount on the standard price.
Step 3
Having decided on the registrar company, go to its website and type the domain name in the input field, which all registrars place in the most prominent place on their main page, you cannot make a mistake. For example, on the RU-Center website, this field is also surrounded by a large orange blot. After clicking the send button to the server, the registrar's scripts will check the availability of the domain for registration in your name not only in the zone that you specify, but also in several more popular ones (com, biz, net, info, etc.). As a result, you will receive a whole list of domains in different zones with messages whether each of them is available for registration. On the website of the same RU-Center, they will be placed in a table of as many as four bookmark pages - check the boxes next to those that you need and click the "Register" button. Then you will be asked to fill out the "NIC-D" questionnaire - after filling it out once, you will receive a personal "nickname" under which all your domains will be registered.
Step 4
After completing the application form and registering, you will need to fund your account with this registrar. You will find the list of methods of replenishment and the procedure for this procedure in your account, and the amount that you need should be specified in the registrar's prices. How long it takes depends on the chosen payment method. Replenishment of the balance using Webmoney takes a few seconds, and a bank transfer can take several business days.
Step 5
When the money is deposited, you can finally fill out the forms related to the registration of the domain itself. This procedure is organized differently for different companies, but you need to keep in mind that when registering a domain in the RU or RF zone, you will be required to have your passport data, confirmed by scanned pictures of the passport pages. Registration of domains in "out-of-territory" zones (biz, com, info, etc.) does not require this.
