Banner ads are very popular on the pages of the VKontakte social network, both for advertising a business and for informing users about their community group. Every VKontakte user can make a bright, memorable banner using Photoshop.

Instructions
Step 1
Sketch the future banner on paper. Start your Photoshop editor program. In the top menu, click on "Window", make sure that the inscription "Toolbar" is checked (if not, click on the inscription). After that, collapse the drop-down menu by clicking on any place in the gray space. Open the image with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + O (English letter). Press C (English). The crop tool is activated.
Step 2
In the panel under the top menu, you will see fields for the length and width, set the banner size. Highlight the desired area of the image. The selection can be dragged: move the cursor inside the selection, hold down the left mouse button and drag to another area of the image. Press Enter to trim.
Step 3
Complete the banner with text. To do this, press the English letter T on your keyboard. Click on any area on the banner, type the desired text. Switch to any other tool to keep the text typed.
Step 4
Add a stroke: From the Edit menu, choose Stroke, choose a color for the line, and set its width in pixels. If you need a shadow, then first click "Window" and check the box next to "Layers". The layers panel will open, on which one layer ("Background" or Background) is the cropped image, the second layer is the text.
Step 5
Right-click on the text layer, select "Blending Options" from the drop-down menu. In the window that opens, click on "Shadow" (creates a shadow in one direction) or "Outer Glow" (creates a shadow in all directions). In the "Outer Glow", click on the square with the color and select the one you want from the palette. Change the blending mode to achieve the desired result. Click "OK" to complete.
Step 6
Decorate the banner with additional effects. Make the colors brighter: Layers → New Adjustment Layer → Selective Color Correction (play with the sliders for a better color solution) or Hue / Saturation. If you need to cut out a part of the image, find the lasso on the toolbar and right-click on the icon.
Step 7
Select the magnetic lasso. Place a point where you want to start the selection, select along the contour. With everything selected, you should return to the starting point. A running dotted line appears. Press Ctrl + Shift + I on the keyboard and use the Del button to delete the selected part. Then press Ctrl + D. Combine all the layers into one with the Ctrl + Shift + E combination.
Step 8
Save the image with the Shift + Ctrl + C keyboard shortcut or in the File menu → Save File As …. Select JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpg, *.jpg) from the list of formats, name the file and set the quality 12. Click “OK” to save the changes. The file will be saved to the folder of your choice.
Step 9
Add the ready-made banner to the VKontakte network. Use the wiki markup tips for your group or community page to insert a banner. Save your changes.
