The World Congress on Internet Security (WorldCIS) is devoted to the latest research on the theory and practice of computer security, primarily in the development of ways to protect against new Internet threats and on information confidentiality. Its main goal is to bridge the gap between science and practice, to promote the introduction of scientific developments into production. It was first held in 2011 in London, and the organizers plan to hold it annually.

To become a participant in this event, you must write an article corresponding to the topic of the congress, and submit an application for participation within the specified time frame. Authors of the most interesting and topical works are invited to present their reports. If the speaker cannot, for any reason, attend the conference in person, he is given the opportunity to present his work in a virtual manner. The reports of the congress participants are subsequently published in special issues of well-known scientific journals devoted to information technologies: International Journal of Intelligent Computing Research, International Journal for Infonomics.

In 2012, the congress was held from June 10 to 12 in Ontario (Canada) at the University of Guelph Exhibition Complex. During it, about 50 areas of research in the field of computer security were considered. Among them are content distribution, biometrics, cellular security, cryptography. Research conducted by students, graduate students and graduates has become a separate section.

A huge number of researchers from different countries took part in the congress: Romania, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, USA, China, etc. The work took place both in the form of oral reports and in the form of round table discussions. The keynote speakers at the congress were Professor of the University of Kent Frank Wang Zhigang, Director of Strategic and Technological Development of Saffron Paul Hofmann and Professor of the University of London Charles Shoneregan.
