All modern browsers have pop-up blocking mechanisms. You can set the appropriate rules both for all web resources as a whole, and for individual sites.
Instructions
Step 1
If you're using Opera, you can choose one of the browser's four pop-up control modes: block all, block unsolicited, open everything in the background, open all. This list is located in the "Quick Settings" section of the "Settings" section of the main browser menu. Navigation through the menu can be replaced by pressing one "hot key" F12. One of these four control modes can be assigned to any site personally, if you right-click on its page and select the line "Site settings" from the menu. Look for the list of pop-up window control modes on the "General" tab. And on the "Scripts" tab there are more detailed settings for controlling HTML and JavaScript codes of pages, the adjustment of which requires an understanding of the mechanisms of these languages.
Step 2
When using Mozilla FireFox, open the "Tools" section in the browser menu and select the "Options" line. In the settings window go to the "Content" tab and check the box next to the "Block pop-up windows" caption. Individual sites can be excluded from this rule by editing the list that opens by clicking the "Exclusions" button.
Step 3
In Internet Explorer, you will need to expand the "Tools" section of the menu, and then its subsection "Block pop-up windows". It contains two items, the top one of which enables pop-up blocking. The bottom item ("Pop-up blocking options") provides access to editing the list of exclusion sites and setting filtering levels (there are three of them in total). You can also turn on text and sound notification of the blocking event of the next window. Another method of turning on blocking is in the same section "Service" click the line "Internet Options" and go to the "Privacy" tab. There you need to put a checkmark for the item "Enable Pop-up Blocking".
Step 4
If your browser is Google Chrome, then, having opened the menu by clicking the icon with a wrench, click the "Options" line. Then in the left margin of the "Settings" page, click the "Advanced" link and in the "Privacy" section, click the "Content Settings" button. Here in the "Pop-ups" section you need to check the box next to the pop-up blocking box. Exceptions for individual web resources can be added to the list that opens with the Manage Exceptions button.
Step 5
And in Apple Safari, all you need to do to enable pop-up blocking is to press CTRL + SHIFT + K. There are also longer options - for example, you can open the "Edit" section in the menu and click the "Block pop-ups" line. Or, in the same section “Edit”, select the line “Settings”, then go to the “Security” tab and check the box next to “Block pop-up windows” in the “Web content” section.
