To protect a personal computer from viruses, it is necessary to use a whole range of measures. If you are not sure about the reliability of certain utilities, then it is best to stop their attempts to establish an Internet connection.

Instructions
Step 1
Use the tools of the Windows operating system to block access to the Internet for a particular utility. Open the computer control panel by selecting the desired item in the "Start" menu. Open the System and Security submenu. Find and navigate to Windows Firewall.
Step 2
Select the Advanced Options tab. Open the "Rules for outbound connection" item. From the Actions menu, select New Rule. In the "Rule Type" window that appears, select the "For program" item and click the "Next" button.
Step 3
In the next menu, activate the "Program path" item and click the "Browse" button. Select the exe file corresponding to the required program. Click "Next". After the next window opens, select the "Block connection" option. Click the Next button twice.
Step 4
Enter a name for the new rule by filling in the Name field. Click the Finish button. To prevent blocking the connection, right-click on the required item and select "Disable Rule".
Step 5
If you want to provide additional protection for your system, install Outpost Firewall. During the first launch of the utility, select the "Learning Mode" item.
Step 6
Reboot your computer. Make sure Outpost Firewall launches automatically after logging in. Open the program whose Internet access you want to prevent. After the Outpost window appears, select "Block". Check the box next to Remember this program action. Click the Ok button.
